Stages to Change Bigpond Email Server Settings in Outlook

Begin by launching the Outlook application and going to the File tab. Click on Account Settings and access the Bigpond email account that you wish to change. Once it is selected, click on Change to access the settings window.

When upgrading to IMAP, make sure the incoming server is changed to imap.telstra.com, the port is set to 993, and the SSL/TLS settings are turned on. Change the outgoing mail server to smtp.telstra.com and set the port for outgoing communications to 465, while keeping the SSL/TLS settings on.

When switching to POP, the incoming server should be changed to pop.telstra.com with port 995, while the outgoing server should remain smtp.telstra.com with port 465. Make sure that 'Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)' is not enabled and authentication for the outgoing mail server is switched on.

Make sure to save any changes made in the settings. Restart the Outlook application so that the newly changed settings can be applied. You may send a test email to check if the recently adjusted settings function properly. If all fails, double-check the account details entered and ensure that there are no service interruptions. For further assistance, it is wise to check the support site of Telstra or follow the guidance of a Bigpond Customer Service Number representative.
