Setting Up Telstra Bigpond Email on Microsoft Outlook
Integrating your BigPond email with Microsoft Outlook will allow you to manage your emails from an interface you are familiar with, hence saving time. Below is how you can set up your Outlook to receive BigPond emails:
Open
Outlook and go to the File menu. To start the setup, click Add Account. Choose
Manual Setup or Additional Server Types and then select POP or IMAP.
Enter
your full name and BigPond email address. For Account Type, choose IMAP as
shown in Server Information. Incoming Mail Server should be imap.telstra.com
while Outgoing Mail Server must be smtp.telstra.com. Under Logon Information,
fill in your BigPond email address and password.
Before
ending this step, click More Settings and go to the Outgoing Server tab. Make
sure My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication is checked and select
Use same settings as my incoming mail server under this option. Navigate to the
Advanced tab where the incoming server (IMAP) port is 993 using SSL for
encryption; while the outgoing server (SMTP) port is 465 using SSL as the
encryption type.
After
these settings have been done, go back to the main setup page then hit the Next
button. Outlook will now test the account settings for correct configuration.
